Mohammed Hayatu-Deen Emerges as ADC Presidential Candidate

Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, the former chairman of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), has unexpectedly picked up a nomination form for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a candidate for the 2027 presidential elections. His candidacy comes amidst a turbulent political landscape, with notable figures like Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), and Peter Obi of the Labour Party shaping the electoral battleground.

Hayatu-Deen's entry follows the departure of Obi and Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), which has altered the opposition dynamics.

Hayatu-Deen, who previously withdrew from the PDP presidential nomination process due to concerns over the integrity of the electoral process, is now positioning himself within the ADC, which he believes could unify opposition forces. He has a substantial background in economics and banking, having served as CEO of FSB International Bank PLC and holding leadership training from prestigious institutions.

His nomination fee is set at N100 million, and he aims to navigate the complexities of the upcoming primaries.
