Cleric Urges Fasting Amid Nigeria's Economic Challenges

Apostle John Okoriko, a tele-evangelist and founder of Solid Rock Kingdom Church in Akwa Ibom State, expressed concern over the continued merriment of Nigerians, particularly Christians, in the face of significant economic, political, and security challenges. Speaking during the monthly Interactive Service in Uyo, themed ‘Miracle of Fasting and Prayer,’ he called for a shift towards intensive fasting and prayer to seek divine intervention for the nation.

Okoriko highlighted the spiritual and physical benefits of fasting and prayer, stating that they should not be overlooked. He lamented that many Nigerians are focused on feasting despite the pressing issues they face.

Furthermore, he criticized the controversial practices surrounding fasting and tithing in churches, particularly the misuse of fasting as a form of punishment. Okoriko urged Nigerians to redirect their focus to God through prayer and supplication for divine assistance.
