SDP Challenges Gabam's Court Move Against INEC

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has responded to Gabam's latest court move concerning the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), asserting that it cannot stand. SDP's statement, made by Araba Rufu Aiyenigba, argues that the judgment from the Federal High Court has already been set aside by the Supreme Court on May 22, 2026.

The party contends that the Supreme Court's ruling should not be tampered with and that INEC should not recognize Gabam as the national chairman. Ogbonna Okechukwu, the national secretary, urged the electoral commission to maintain the status quo pending the determination of the appeal.

The SDP further argued that the Supreme Court had previously held that the court lacked jurisdiction to determine the occupancy of the national chairman and national secretary positions. The party dismissed the suit filed by Salawu Adeniyi Mustapha Adeoti, stating that neither he nor anyone else participated in the party's governorship primary in Osun State, insisting that Dr.

Ajala remains the party's governorship candidate. The SDP aims to move beyond leadership disputes and focus on preparations for the 2027 general elections.
