SDP Criminal Case Against Shehu Gabam Adjourned to 2026

The magistrate court sitting in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, has adjourned the criminal case against former national chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Shehu Gabam, until July 20, 2026. Prof.

Sodiq Abubakar, the current chairman of the SDP in Gombe, explained that the adjournment was necessary because the party could not provide key evidence required for the case. The court had requested bank statements from a Nigerian bank, but the bank was unable to furnish the necessary documents within the stipulated time.

The case involves allegations of financial misappropriation amounting to N35 million during Gabam's tenure as national chairman. The court is awaiting the bank to respond to a subpoena for the documents, which are critical for the proceedings.

The inability to present these documents has led to the adjournment, with the next hearing scheduled for July 20, 2026.
