Benue Deputy Governor Distributes Bread to Idoma Community

Benue State Deputy Governor Sam Ode distributed ‘Alia Bread’ and Action Bitters to members of the Idoma community, describing the act as a token of appreciation rather than a political stunt. During a visit to the Living Faith Church in Otukpo, he addressed the controversy surrounding the distribution, stating that it was a traditional gesture of goodwill for residents who welcomed him during his visit to Igumale.

Ode recalled that receiving bread was a cherished experience from his childhood. He also mentioned that he distributed money to the crowd on the directive of Governor Hyacinth Alia.

Ode dismissed the public debate over the gesture, urging critics to focus on more pressing issues affecting the community. He reiterated the government's commitment to addressing the welfare and security of the people, emphasizing that his visit was part of efforts to revive local industries, including the Igumale Cement Factory and Benue Burnt Bricks, to create jobs.
