Adebayo Reflects on Joining SDP at 19 and Youth Leadership

Prince Adewole Adebayo, the presidential candidate for the Social Democratic Party (SDP), recounted his political beginnings during a visit from the Young Progressive Professionals to the SDP national secretariat in Abuja. He joined the SDP at the age of 19 in 1991 while studying law at the University of Ife, now known as Obafemi Awolowo University.

Initially opposing the formation of political parties by the military government, Adebayo changed his stance after studying the SDP's manifesto. He described his first political task as pasting campaign posters across Lagos, an experience he found enjoyable despite it being viewed as an insult due to his background.

Adebayo also encouraged young professionals to aspire to leadership roles, asserting that Nigeria has the resources and human capacity to address its challenges. He emphasized the need for the younger generation to take responsibility for the country's future.
