Adebayo Urges Nigerian Youth to Engage in Grassroots Politics

On Thursday, Prince Adewole Adebayo, the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), addressed Nigerian youths in Abuja, urging them to take ownership of the country's political future. He emphasized that politics should extend beyond intellectual discussions and be actively pursued at the grassroots level, where electoral decisions are made.

Adebayo pointed out that Nigeria's economic, security, and developmental challenges are largely man-made and can be resolved through competent leadership and unity. He called on the youth to reject political mobilization based on religion, ethnicity, gender, or region, asserting that sustainable solutions cannot arise from exclusionary practices.

Adebayo highlighted Nigeria's abundant human and natural resources, stating there are no natural barriers to its prosperity. He criticized the lack of a structured system for producing capable leaders and likened political parties to a "university" for developing responsible leadership.

Adebayo, who joined the SDP in 1991, encouraged the youth to focus on the principles outlined in Chapter Two of the Nigerian Constitution for their political engagement.
