Peter Obi Commits to Transparent Voting in 2027 Elections

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), reaffirmed his dedication to ensuring that the votes of Nigerians are counted in the upcoming 2027 elections during an interview with Arise News on Thursday. He outlined plans to establish structures that guarantee votes from polling units are counted and transmitted without manipulation.

Obi emphasized the importance of monitoring the electoral process to protect votes, while clarifying that these measures would not create parallel systems to those of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He stated that Nigeria should not be an exception in organizing free, fair, and transparent elections.

Obi mentioned the implementation of dual transmission systems to ensure accurate results from polling units are sent to their situation room. He explained his previous declaration in Port Harcourt about being ready to die for votes as a symbolic statement of solidarity with his supporters, not an incitement to violence.
