VeryDarkMan Addresses Insecurity at NBA Conference

Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), participated as a panellist at the Nigerian Bar Association's 2026 Annual General Conference held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, from August 21 to 28. He clarified that his invitation was to share personal experiences regarding insecurity in Nigeria, not to lecture lawyers on legal matters.

VDM spoke on the session titled “Unknown Known Gunmen,” emphasizing that insecurity affects even members of the judiciary, referencing the abduction of a judge in Kebbi on July 26. He criticized the media for inadequate coverage of violence and its aftermath, stating that they have become "lazy" in reporting such incidents.

VDM shared his firsthand experiences from various attacks, including being the first respondent at the Yelwata incident and witnessing a Sallah Day bombing in Borno State. He described the Yelwata attack as a cycle of retaliation linked to the killing of a Fulani boy, asserting that his role was to bring real-world experiences into the discussion on insecurity.
