Adeleke Defends State Road Projects Over Federal Roads

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke addressed concerns regarding the condition of federal roads during the ARISE News Town Hall in Osogbo on Tuesday. He asserted that the state government should not divert resources to repair federal roads, emphasizing that responsibility for these roads lies with the Federal Government.

Adeleke noted that his administration has already undertaken several federal road projects without receiving payment, stating, “I’ve done about eight, nine. Up to now, I’ve not been paid.” He mentioned that he has raised this issue with the Minister of Works to seek reimbursement.

The governor reported that his administration has constructed approximately 350 kilometers of roads across Osun State, including significant projects like the road linking Otoyegbaju and Iresi, which had been abandoned for about 45 years. He argued that improving state roads is crucial for the agricultural economy and connectivity within communities, urging that questions about federal roads should be directed to the Federal Government.
