Peter Obi Plans Collaboration with Opposition if Elected

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), announced his intention to work with opposition parties on national matters if elected president in the 2027 election. During an interview with ARISE NEWS, Obi emphasized that his administration would not harass opposition parties, asserting their essential role in fostering a stable country.

He committed to inviting opposition members to participate in significant decisions, including during foreign trips. Obi also vowed to take a strong stance against electoral malpractice, declaring that anyone caught rigging elections would face imprisonment.

He promised to remain accessible to Nigerians, stating he would not be absent from the country during his presidency. Criticizing restrictions on campaign activities in some states, Obi recounted his experience as Anambra State governor, where he supported political opponents' campaigns.

He noted that Anambra's foreign debt increased from about $18 million to approximately $30 million during his tenure, asserting he did not incur loans or issue bonds through financial institutions.
