Obi Advocates Opposition Unity at APM Campaign Launch

On Monday, Peter Obi attended the commissioning of the presidential campaign office for Seyi Makinde, the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), and his running mate, Lawal Daura, in Abuja. During the event, Daura urged opposition leaders to unite for a more effective opposition, which he believes would benefit Nigerians.

Obi's presence has reignited discussions about the potential collaboration among opposition presidential candidates for the 2027 general elections, following a summit by the G-100 advocating for a coalition against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Obi stated that the opposition is not desperate but focused on allowing Nigerians to choose their leaders freely.

He expressed a commitment to support whoever emerges from a credible electoral process and called for a shift in political discourse towards addressing pressing issues such as poverty and insecurity. Makinde also spoke, asserting that those dismissing his presidential ambition would soon hear from Nigerians in 2027.
