Analysts Predict Jonathan's 2027 Election Chances Are Slim

Political analysts Jide Ojo and Saleh Dauda have stated that former President Goodluck Jonathan is unlikely to win the 2027 presidential election. During an interview with Daily Trust, Ojo argued that calls for Jonathan's return are attempts to weaken southern political influence ahead of the elections.

He noted that Jonathan has largely stayed away from partisan politics since leaving office in 2015 and has instead focused on peace-building activities across Africa. Ojo emphasized that Jonathan lacks a significant political support base and questioned the viability of the political platform he might contest on, especially since party primaries have already closed.

Professor Saleh Dauda advised Jonathan to ignore calls for his return and to remain focused on his peace-building efforts, asserting that the current political landscape in Nigeria does not favor Jonathan's candidacy. Dauda further stated that Jonathan's chances of winning are virtually non-existent.
