Oyo APC Candidate Explains Viral Video with Student

The campaign organization of Senator Sharafadeen Alli, the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Oyo State, issued a statement on Wednesday regarding a viral video that showed a student from The Polytechnic, Ibadan, sitting on his lap. The campaign team explained that the student, along with others from the Department of Banking and Finance, visited Alli at his campaign office in Mokola, Ibadan, to invite him to their program and conduct an interview.

Due to a lack of seating, Alli invited one student to sit on his lap, which led to various interpretations online, including allegations of inappropriate behavior. The campaign team condemned these interpretations as misleading and politically motivated, asserting that Alli's action was a "spontaneous and fatherly gesture" without any inappropriate intentions.

They urged the public to disregard the misleading narratives and emphasized Alli's positive relationship with young people.
