Martin Ugwu, head of the media team for the ADC, revealed that the purpose of the meeting was to consolidate the party's structure in the region and to align leadership priorities while deepening grassroots engagement across the Southeast zone.

This meeting marked Obi's first engagement with the newly elected chairmen, emphasizing the importance of internal party democracy and harmonizing operations at the state level. Meanwhile, Nollywood actor Yul Edochie criticized Obi's political ambitions, suggesting that joining the ADC would be a waste of time, indicating a lack of surprise regarding Obi's political choices.
