Olaopa Advocates for Rewarding Civil Servants' Excellence

On Saturday, during the 2026 Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation Service-Wide Reward and Recognition Ceremony in Abuja, Prof. Tunji Olaopa, Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), stressed the necessity of rewarding high-performing civil servants. He highlighted that performance and consequence management are vital for transforming the civil service, as outlined in the FCSSIP25.

Olaopa stated that rewards such as commendations and promotions motivate engagement and productivity, while sanctions help mitigate unprofessional behavior. He acknowledged the dedication of awardees who excelled in a challenging work environment and praised Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, for her leadership and the event's success.

Walson-Jack expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support and emphasized the importance of recognizing excellence in public service. She encouraged awardees to mentor others in the civil service.
