Heavy Security Presence in Abuja Amid Protests

On Thursday, security agencies explained the heavy deployment of personnel across parts of Abuja, particularly in the city center, to maintain law and order amid rising protests in the Federal Capital Territory. CSP Anieti Iniedu, during a joint media briefing, reassured residents and visitors that there is no security threat that warrants panic.

The increased security presence aims to ensure public safety and manage the resulting traffic gridlock affecting thousands of motorists and civil servants. Iniedu noted that the deployment is a routine measure in response to observed protests.

He emphasized the importance of collaboration between security agencies and local communities to effectively tackle emerging security threats. Kingsley Amako, the National Coordinator of the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit, highlighted the need for robust intelligence gathering and the evolution of tactics to combat financing for terrorism.
