Wike Apologizes for Cattle Issue in Abuja, Takes Responsibility

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, expressed regret over the persistent presence of cattle on major roads and streets in Abuja during a monthly media briefing on Monday. He acknowledged that the situation remains a concern despite ongoing efforts to improve the capital city.

Wike emphasized that the administration is committed to addressing the issue and apologized to residents for the inconvenience caused. He highlighted various infrastructural projects being undertaken across the territory, which extend beyond the city center to satellite towns.

These projects include road construction, water supply, and housing initiatives. Wike also mentioned that several projects are set to be inaugurated in collaboration with President Bola Tinubu as part of activities marking the administration's third year in office.

He noted that the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) will commission projects in the coming days, starting June 8, 2026, aimed at improving access and strengthening security in communities affected by the roaming cattle.
