Nyesom Wike Initiates Renovation of 14 FCT Hospitals

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has approved the renovation and upgrading of all 14 general hospitals in the Federal Capital Territory, as directed by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike. This decision was made during the 19th meeting of the FCT Executive Council, which included the Minister of State for FCT, Dr Mariya Mahmoud.

Chief of Staff to the FCT Minister, Chidi Amadi, reported that the council reviewed 20 memoranda from various departments. Dr Adedolapo Fasawe, the Mandate Secretary of the Health Secretariat, stated that the renovations would involve purchasing new medical equipment, X-ray machines, and upgrading hospital theatres.

Additionally, Wike has mandated the immediate resumption of work on the long-abandoned Utako General Hospital, which will include construction, equipping, and staffing. These initiatives aim to improve residents' access to quality and affordable healthcare.

The administration is also fulfilling its financial obligations to health insurance providers through premium payments.
