Call for TikTok Ban After Child Pornography Arrest

Lere Olayinka, an aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has demanded that Nigerian authorities either ban or review TikTok following the arrest of Anulika Onyeanusia, 36, in Onitsha for alleged child pornography. Onyeanusia reportedly admitted to earning up to $300 from uploading a sexual video involving her eight-year-old daughter.

The Anambra State Police Command confirmed her arrest on September 11, stating that during the operation, four children aged two, three, six, and nine were rescued, and sex toys were recovered. Police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga noted that Onyeanusia's husband is also being questioned regarding his potential involvement.

Anambra Commissioner of Police Nnanna Ama condemned the incident, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation and ensuring the rescued children receive appropriate care while their identities are protected. Local vigilante operatives and residents played a crucial role in alerting the police, leading to the suspect's arrest.
