SWAN Demands Probe into Wikki Tourists FC Relegation

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Wikki Tourists FC's relegation from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after a disappointing performance in the 2025-2026 season. Despite financial support from the Bauchi State government, the club was relegated to the Nigeria National League (NNL) just a year after returning to the top flight.

SWAN's statement, jointly signed by Chairman Bala Bawaji and Secretary Elizabeth Kah, emphasized the need for accountability regarding allegations of match-fixing and poor welfare packages for players. The association noted that the state government had increased monthly allocations to the club to prevent relegation, but the efforts were unsuccessful.

SWAN welcomed the appointment of Alhaji Haruna Bako as the interim sole administrator of Wikki Tourists and expressed confidence in his ability to restore the club ahead of the upcoming NNL season, urging him to implement necessary reforms.
