Wole Soyinka Recounts Terrifying Abduction Ordeal in Romania

Nobel Laureate playwright Wole Soyinka shared his harrowing abduction ordeal in Romania. While in Bucharest for the Sibiu International Theatre Festival, Soyinka was abducted by a taxi driver who diverted him to a remote area, demanding his PIN at a POS machine.

Despite the terrifying experience, Soyinka managed to escape near his hotel but was robbed of his money. He emphasized that the incident was not just a personal loss but an assault on the community.
