Woman Thwarts Kidnapping of Grandson in Ondo State

On March 22, 2026, a woman in Ogbagi Akoko, Ondo State, foiled a kidnapping attempt involving her three-year-old grandson, Alex Ayobami. The incident began when Mr.

Olanireti F. reported suspicious activity concerning his grandson, who was with his grandmother. The community raised an alarm, prompting the Ondo State Police Command to respond.

The suspects, identified as Adefarati Idowu and Adepoju Babatund, attempted to escape on an unregistered Bajaj motorcycle. However, Mr.

Olawal intervened, preventing their escape by holding onto the motorcycle while community members mobilized to block the suspects. The police successfully apprehended the suspects, and the child was rescued unharmed.

The case has been transferred to the police headquarters for a thorough investigation, with ongoing efforts to uncover a wider criminal network connected to the incident. Commissioner Adebowal Lawal commended the community for their prompt response and emphasized the importance of vigilance among parents and guardians.
