26th National Council Meeting Focuses on Social Protection
The 26th National Council Meeting, organized by the Ministry of Women Affairs, aims to strengthen families, expand the care economy, and promote inclusive social protection in Nigeria. The Pre-Summit Technical Session was presided over by Permanent Secretary Mrs Nko Asanye Esuabana, featuring presentations from national and sub-national delegates.

The previous 25th Council, held in November 2025 in Benin City, reviewed 145 memoranda and identified gaps in data management and funding for social development programs. The Council urged states to implement critical national and international policies and recommended stronger frameworks, increased budgets, and improved coordination among relevant ministries and partners.
The 26th Council aims to build on these resolutions for measurable and inclusive social protection outcomes.
