Women’s rights group condemns NYSC, Ibom Air over unfair treatment of Uguamaye, Emmanson

A women's rights group has criticized the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and Ibom Air for their alleged unfair treatment of Ushie Rita Uguamaye and Comfort Emmanson. The group accused the institutions of using their power to retaliate against and humiliate the women for speaking out.

The NYSC is said to be withholding Uguamaye's discharge certificate in response to her criticism of the government, while Ibom Air reportedly placed Emmanson on an indefinite Fly list without due process. The group emphasized that these actions violate the women's constitutional rights to freedom of expression and due process.

They called for the NYSC to release Uguamaye's certificate and for Ibom Air to rescind Emmanson's ban pending a transparent investigation. The group urged Nigerians to reject double standards that allow powerful institutions to disproportionately punish women compared to men.
