Edo Governor Okpebholo Highlights Labor Talks on Workers' Day

During the 2026 Workers' Day celebration, Edo State Governor Mondai Okpebholo addressed the significance of labor discussions in fostering development within the state. He reaffirmed that worker welfare remains a top priority for his administration, which has increased the minimum wage to ₦75,000 and ensured the prompt payment of salaries, including a 13th-month salary.

Okpebholo commended labor leaders for maintaining a cordial relationship with the government and expressed gratitude for their support in development efforts. He announced a ₦1 billion payment for salary arrears and an additional ₦1 billion for outstanding gratuities for retired local government workers.

The governor also launched a ₦1 billion interest-free loan scheme aimed at traders, artisans, and entrepreneurs to boost economic activity. He noted that ongoing infrastructure projects across the three senatorial districts would enhance market access and security.

Okpebholo reiterated his administration's commitment to working with labor in good faith to build a stronger and more prosperous Edo State.
