FUTATH Faces Labor Ultimatum Over Workers' Rights Violations

Organised Labour in Ondo State has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the management of the Federal University of Technology Akure Teaching Hospital (FUTATH) due to allegations of breaches of workers' rights, victimization of trade union members, and non-compliance with agreements regarding the transition of workers from the former State Specialist Hospital. The unions claim that workers were forced to renounce their trade union membership to participate in the transition process, violating their constitutional right to freedom of association.

NLC Chairman Comrade Ademola Adeniji stated that this interference is unacceptable. Additionally, the unions accused the management of excluding certain employees from the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS), despite their names being on the agreed nominal roll.

Prof. Olusegun Ojo, the Chief Medical Director of FUTATH, denied these allegations, asserting that the management complied with the Memorandum of Understanding and expressed disappointment over the unions' claims.
