World Crafts Council Honors Olusegun Runsewe for Contributions

The World Crafts Council has honored Olusegun Runsewe, an icon in craft culture and hospitality in Africa, with an award recognizing his significant contributions to the development of arts and culture. The award was conferred during the second World Craft Forum held in Kuwait.

The letter of recognition was signed by Aisbl Intern Saad Al Qaddumi, the president of the council, commending Runsewe's unwavering commitment to preserving, promoting, and sustaining handicrafts while empowering craft communities in Africa. The letter further acknowledged Runsewe's steadfast dedication to advancing crafts globally and expressed appreciation for his role in promoting African craft culture.

A commemorative plaque was presented as a formal symbol of acknowledgment of Runsewe's commendable role. Runsewe is noted as the immediate past Director-General of the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC).

The theme of the World Craft Forum in Kuwait for 2026 is "Craft in the Creative Economy," which aims to bring together international craft leaders and artisans to discuss the role of crafts in modern society, focusing on sustainable heritage and resilience.
