Ian Wright Critiques Canada Coach After Loss to Switzerland

Ian Wright, a former England striker, criticized Canada National Football Team coach Jess Marsch after Canada's 2-1 loss to Switzerland in a 2026 World Cup qualifying match held at BC Place in Vancouver. Canada initially led the group standings, and a draw would have secured their place in the knockout stage.

However, Switzerland scored two goals through Ruben Vargas in the 46th minute and Johan Manzambi in the 57th minute, despite David's goal in the 76th minute serving only as a consolation. Although Canada advanced to the knockout round thanks to Bosnia and Herzegovina's 3-1 victory over Qatar, Wright expressed his disapproval of Marsch's cautious and indecisive tactics during the match.

He stated on ITV that it "doesn't make sense" to play conservatively in front of home fans, emphasizing that the team's spirit should have been more aggressive from the outset to enhance their chances.
