Yobe State Governor Buni Distributes Motorcycles to Forest Guards

On October 15, Yobe State governor Mai Mala Buni initiated the distribution of 160 motorcycles and various security equipment to 886 National Forest Guards. This effort, part of the state government's Forest Guard Initiative, includes 900 raincoats, boots, blankets, torches, and mosquito nets.
The governor, represented by the secretary to the state government, Dr Mohammed Goje, emphasized the government's commitment to equipping personnel for effective service delivery. The special adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Brig- General Dahiru Abdulsalam (rtd), noted that the Federal Government approved the initiative, with Yobe providing the first batch of 1,000 recruits.
The 886 recruits completed initial training in December last year and received further training with the Nigerian Army. Abdulsalam stated that the motorcycles would enhance mobility for effective patrols in vulnerable areas.
Brigadier General M.S. Mukhtar commended the initiative as a force multiplier for improving response to security threats in Yobe State.
