Atiku Abubakar Urges Tinubu to Prepare for Handover

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has declared his intention to win the 2027 elections. He stated that President Bola Tinubu should begin preparing his handover notes, as he anticipates taking over after the elections.

In a statement released on Friday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku accused Tinubu of conducting economic experiments since assuming office in 2023, particularly criticizing the removal of the fuel subsidy, which he claims has deepened poverty for many Nigerians. Atiku described the administration's recent pledge to collaborate with governors on reducing public transport fares as too late and inadequate.

He highlighted the failure of the government's attempt to replace petrol with Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), noting that only about 120,000 out of 14 million vehicles have been converted to CNG in over three years. Atiku promised to implement a production-based subsidy to alleviate the cost-of-living crisis, contrasting it with the current administration's policies.
