Femi Fani-Kayode Critiques Atiku Abubakar's 33-Year Bid

Femi Fani-Kayode, the Nigerian High Commissioner to South Africa, criticized former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for his lengthy pursuit of the presidency, which has spanned 33 years. In his commentary titled "The Seventh Bid of Waziri," Fani-Kayode noted that Atiku has attempted to become President of Nigeria six times, with his latest bid being the seventh.

Atiku's political journey began in 1993 when he contested the Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential primary. He subsequently ran in the 2007 election under the Action Congress, participated in the People's Democratic Party (PDP) primary in 2011, contested the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary in 2015, and was the PDP's candidate in both the 2019 and 2023 elections.

Currently, Atiku is the presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), with Rotimi Amaechi, a former Minister of Transportation, as his running mate for the upcoming 2027 elections. Fani-Kayode expressed surprise at Atiku's persistence in seeking the presidency despite his repeated failures.
