Nigeria Railway Corporation Slashes Fares by 50% for Festive Season Travel

The Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) has commenced a 50% fare slash in train services from December 23, 2025, to January 4, 2026, to alleviate the financial burden on passengers during the festive period. This move by the NRC, led by Managing Director Kayode Opeifa, aims to promote inclusive mobility and encourage the use of rail transport as a safe and reliable alternative, especially during peak travel periods.

The discounted fares have resulted in a significant increase in passenger turnout across major rail corridors such as Lagos, Ibadan, Abuja, and Kaduna.
