Zamfara Governor Lawal Distributes 72,000 Fertilizer Bags

On Monday, Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal announced the distribution of 72,000 bags of fertilizer and 200,000 liters of herbicide to farmers as part of the 2026 wet season fertilizer program launch held at the Trade Fair Complex in Gusau. The initiative also included the provision of 100 crop residue crushers, 100 grass choppers, 100 feed mill machines, 20 motorcycles, and 20 mobile phones designed for agricultural extension agents.

Governor Lawal emphasized Zamfara State's strategic position as a significant contributor to Nigeria's agricultural economy, highlighting the importance of revitalizing agriculture to strengthen food security and create sustainable livelihoods. He noted that agriculture is a primary livelihood for the people of Zamfara, whose historical and cultural roots are deeply embedded in farming and livestock trade.

The governor's efforts aim to combat poverty and insecurity in the region while enhancing agricultural productivity.
