Zimbabwe Launches Blueberry Exports to China Amid Demand

Zimbabwe has initiated its blueberry exports to China, taking advantage of the country's zero-tariff policy that came into effect on May 1. This move is part of a broader strategy by Zimbabwe, which is Africa's third-largest blueberry producer, to capitalize on the increasing global demand for blueberries, known for their health benefits.

The Horticulture Development Council announced the first shipment, although the size of this shipment was not disclosed. Zimbabwe is expected to export a significant metric ton of blueberries per hectare by 2026, with data indicating a previous year's yield of 1 ton per hectare.

The primary markets for Zimbabwe's blueberries have traditionally included the Netherlands, the UK, Germany, Spain, South Africa, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates.
