ZLP Names Professor Asikhia FCT Senatorial Candidate

The Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) announced Professor Festus Uwakhemen Asikhia as its candidate for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections during a ceremony in Abuja. ZLP's national chairman, Dan Nwanyanwu, expressed confidence in Asikhia's candidacy, highlighting his integrity and capacity to effectively represent the residents of the FCT in the National Assembly.

Asikhia's legislative agenda aims to address longstanding governance challenges, particularly the overlap of institutional responsibilities that complicate public service delivery. He emphasized the need for clear institutional roles to enhance governance accountability and promised to establish a senatorial liaison office to engage with residents across the six area councils.

Additionally, Asikhia committed to addressing the burdens of multiple taxation faced by businesses and property owners in the FCT. He also expressed concerns regarding the integrity of Nigeria's democratic process and the importance of adhering to the rule of law to maintain public trust in the judiciary.
