Borno Governor Zulum Appoints Prof. Bukar to Zakkat Commission

Governor Zulum of Borno State has established the Zakkat Commission, appointing Prof. Bukar Muhammad Usman as its executive chairman.

This decision was disclosed by the governor's spokesman, Dauda Iliya. The commission is set to become operational in 2025, following the passage of a law by the Borno State House of Assembly that enables its establishment.

The commission will be responsible for overseeing the collection and equitable distribution of Zakkat and Waqf across the state. Prof.

Bukar Muhammad Usman is a distinguished Islamic scholar and professor of Arabic literature, bringing extensive expertise in Islamic jurisprudence and academic leadership to the role. He began his academic career in 2006, serving as a lecturer at the Nigerian Arabic Language Village in Gamboru Ngala until 2018, and he currently holds the rank of professor at Yobe State University, where he also serves as the head of the Arabic department and is a member of the university's Senate Council.
