Zulum Inaugurates 42-Room Patients’ Apartment at UMTH

On [exact date not provided], Borno State Governor Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum inaugurated a 42-room patients’ apartment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) to enhance healthcare services. The facility is intended to alleviate the hardships faced by patients' relatives and visitors who travel long distances for specialized medical care.

This initiative is part of Zulum's ongoing support for UMTH, which includes a previous allocation of N100 million to address funding gaps for medical consumables and the construction of 24 three-bedroom apartments for medical staff to mitigate housing shortages. Additionally, Zulum has authorized the release of N1 billion to improve kidney transplant and maternal health services at the hospital and provided N500 million in response to the 2024 flood disaster.

Professor Ahmed Ahidjo, the chief medical director of UMTH, expressed gratitude for the governor's continuous support.
