PiCNG Distributes 100,000 CNG Conversion Kits in Nigeria

The President of the PiCNG, Barrister Ismaeel Ahm, announced the launch of a program distributing 100,000 conversion kits to facilitate the adoption of compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles across Nigeria. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to transition to cleaner energy and reduce the economic burden on Nigerian families and businesses.

The program marks the first anniversary of the agency's establishment, which began its work on October 31, 2022, under President Bola Tinubu's directive to secure alternative energy sources for the country. The initiative aims to convert ten thousand vehicles to CNG in its first year and includes plans for the deployment of 40 CNG buses, seven electric buses, and 200 CNG-powered tricycles in Kano.

The program also involves the establishment of liquefied compressed natural gas (LCNG) stations in key cities, including Kano, Katsina, Gombe, Kaduna, and Owerri, to support the rollout of electric vehicle charging stations and enhance the transport energy ecosystem in Nigeria.
