Kebbi Government Promises Justice After Deadly Clash

The Kebbi State Government has vowed to pursue justice after a violent clash between farmers and herders in the Gulma area of Argungu Local Government resulted in the deaths of eight individuals, including one farmer and seven herders. Deputy Governor Abubakar Umar Tafida conveyed the government's condolences during a visit to the community on behalf of Governor Nasir Idris.

Tafida described the incident as unfortunate and assured residents that the government would take responsibility for the killings, including arresting and prosecuting those involved according to the law. He urged the community to maintain peace to avoid further violence.

The conflict reportedly began when cattle allegedly strayed onto farmland owned by a farmer named Aminu Ala, leading to a confrontation that resulted in the farmer being stabbed to death. This triggered retaliatory violence, with residents killing a herder and setting his body ablaze.

Despite the intervention of security agencies, the violence spread, leading to a total of eight deaths. Local leaders called for dialogue and tolerance to prevent future clashes.
