Eight Killed in Farmers-Herders Clash in Kebbi State

On Monday at approximately 3 PM, a violent clash occurred in Kebbi State, resulting in the deaths of eight individuals. The conflict began when herder Yaron Buba Dogo allegedly allowed his cattle to stray onto the farmland of Alhaji Aminu Ala, destroying crops.

A confrontation ensued, during which a farmer was fatally stabbed in the neck. Following this, a mob mobilized and attacked the herder, killing him and setting his body ablaze.

Despite the intervention of security operatives from the Kebbi State Police Command, four additional individuals were killed, and their bodies were burned beyond recognition. Two corpses were later recovered from farmland outside Gulma Town.

The police managed to rescue five individuals, including a woman, who were trapped during the incident and moved them to safety at the Argungu police station. A joint security operation has been deployed in the area, and a curfew has been imposed to maintain peace and prevent further escalation.

Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for the killings.
