Eight Killed in Farmer-Herder Clash in Kebbi State

On June 22, 2026, a violent clash occurred in Gulma Town, located in the Arugungu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, resulting in the deaths of eight individuals, including seven herders. According to a statement from the Kebbi State Police Command, the conflict began around 3:00 PM when a herder named Yaron Buba Dogo allegedly allowed his cattle to wander into farmland owned by farmer Aminu Ala, damaging crops.

This led to a confrontation during which the farmer was fatally stabbed in the neck. Following this incident, an angry mob attacked the herder, killing him and setting his body ablaze.

The mob subsequently targeted other community members, resulting in four additional deaths, with two bodies later recovered from farmland outside Gulma Town. The police managed to rescue five individuals, including one woman, who were trapped during the violence and moved them to safety at the Argungu police station.
