12-Year-Old Dies After Alleged School Bullying in A’Ibom

Ufokobong Edwin Godwin, a 12-year-old Junior Secondary School 1 student, died following alleged bullying at his school in Ikot Ekpen Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State. The incident reportedly began during the Easter break when Godwin was approached by senior students who insisted he share provisions.

After declining, he was allegedly assaulted, sustaining a neck injury that led to a coma. Although he regained consciousness, he later developed severe neck pain and was taken to the hospital, where he passed away on Easter Sunday due to complications associated with a blood clot in the throat area.

The school administration, led by Principal Jude Ezeogu, confirmed the incident and expressed condolences. The family is demanding an investigation from the federal government, emphasizing the need for justice.
