PSC Sends Delegation to Monitor Osun Election Conduct

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the deployment of a high-powered monitoring delegation to Osun State in preparation for the governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026. This decision was communicated through a statement by the PSC spokesperson, Mr Torty Njoku Kalu, in Abuja.

The delegation, led by DIG (Dr) Taiwo Lakanu (rtd), who is a Board Member and Chairman of the PSC Standing Committee on Police Matters, aims to oversee the conduct of police personnel assigned to election duties. The PSC emphasized the importance of maintaining the integrity of the electoral process and ensuring that officers adhere to guiding principles governing their conduct.

The Commission is committed to fostering public confidence in the electoral process by ensuring that police actions are impartial and civil. It has urged all police officers involved in the election to demonstrate exemplary conduct, remain apolitical, and protect citizens' rights to vote freely.

The PSC also stated that any officer compromising the election's credibility would face sanctions.
