17 Bandits, 10 Police Officers Killed in Kebbi Encounter

In an armed encounter in Kebbi State, 17 suspected bandits were neutralized, and 10 police officers were killed. The incident occurred around the Rafin Makuku axis of Sakaba Local Government Area when a group of approximately 240 bandits, traveling on over 200 motorcycles from the Sangeko Gap area of Dansadau District in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State, attempted to enter a community.

They overpowered a mobile police checkpoint, resulting in the deaths of 10 mobile policemen and two civilians, with the bandits also stealing rifles. DSP Bashir Usman, spokesperson for the Kebbi State Police Command, confirmed the incident, stating that four motorcycles belonging to the attackers were burned during the engagement.

He described the slain officers as gallant and emphasized the command's priority to support affected families and care for the injured while continuing operations against fleeing bandits.
