Police Force Mourns 10 Officers Killed in Kebbi Clash

The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the deaths of 10 officers during a gun battle with suspected bandits in Sakaba Local Government Area, Kebbi State, on Monday at approximately 9:25 am. The clash occurred when police operatives intercepted the bandits moving between Zamfara and Kebbi states.

CSP Ani Iniedu, the Force Public Relations Officer, reported that two civilians also lost their lives, while two officers sustained injuries and are receiving medical attention. The police neutralized at least 17 suspected bandits and destroyed four motorcycles belonging to the attackers.

Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu expressed profound grief over the loss, describing it as a painful loss to the Force and the nation. He assured the families of the fallen officers that their sacrifice would not be forgotten.

The remains of the deceased officers have been conveyed to Birnin Kebbi, and additional personnel have been deployed to continue operations against the fleeing attackers.
