Terrorists Threaten Abducted Kwara Victims with Marriage

Families of 176 individuals abducted by terrorists in Kaiama Local Government Area, Kwara State, reported that the kidnappers threatened to marry the "beautiful" female captives and kill the remaining hostages. The victims have been in captivity for nearly six months.

The families have appealed to both the Federal Government and the Kwara State Government for assistance, stating they have exhausted all options. They raised over N155 million through community contributions to secure the victims' release, but the terrorists allegedly rejected the ransom.

Abdul Ibrahim, a Kaiama indigene, expressed the community's desperation, noting that peaceful protests have not yielded results. Suleiman Bukata, the Dan Sardaukin Kaiama, urged the government to extend the same rescue efforts seen in Oyo State to Kaiama, emphasizing that the prolonged captivity increases the victims' suffering.

Senator Adamu Aliero commented on the broader security situation in northern Nigeria, indicating that while insecurity is a concern, the Federal Government should not be blamed for inadequate funding of security operations.
