Ulasi, a chieftain of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), has stated that the crisis currently affecting the party was triggered by the events of the 2023 presidential convention. Speaking on Arise Television, Ulasi pointed out that the controversies surrounding the convention marked a turning point for internal discord within the PDP.

He specifically faulted the actions of former Sokoto State Governor Nyesom Wike, describing the decisions made during the convention as pivotal in altering the outcomes of the contest.
