JAMB Completes Automation for 2026 UTME Test Items

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) announced the completion of the automation of the test item development process for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). This transition, finalized on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at the University of Ibadan, signifies a major advancement from the previously used manual methods.

Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede highlighted that this digital automation will streamline the management of millions of test items annually and eliminate logistical challenges associated with physical document handling.

The new system is designed to enhance the credibility of examinations and reduce the stress on item writers. During the announcement, it was noted that two million candidates have registered for the 2026 UTME.

JAMB reiterated its commitment to maintaining a zero-tolerance policy towards examination malpractice and called for support from political leaders to invest in world-class computer-based testing centers to improve digital literacy nationwide.
