ADC Launches Reconciliation Committee for 2027 Elections

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) inaugurated a National Reconciliation and Peace Committee on Wednesday in Abuja to address grievances stemming from its recent primaries and to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections. National Chairman David Mark stated that the initiative aims to heal wounds, rebuild trust, and ensure all members feel valued within the party's political structure.

The primaries, held in May, led to mixed reactions among party members, resulting in discontent among some leaders. Mark urged successful aspirants to view their victories as responsibilities rather than opportunities to exclude former opponents, asserting that unsuccessful candidates remain important to the party.

He emphasized the need for a united platform, directing the committee to engage aggrieved members and establish zonal sub-committees for ongoing dialogue. Senator Tunde Ogbeha, the committee chairman, acknowledged the challenges ahead and committed to addressing grievances while promoting justice, transparency, and fairness.
